Water Swivels and Adapters

Water swivels are designed to facilitate the introduction of a coolant (normally water) to the inside of the diamond core bit, cooling the bit and flushing away the cuttings while drilling. A valve is supplied to control coolant flow.

How much coolant should I use?
There are a great number of variables to consider, the bit RPM and bit pressure, the hardness, abrasiveness, and density of the material being drilled, the horsepower of the drill, the desired penetration rate and more.

Here are two good general rules to get you started.
1) Maintain a coolant flow, never let the diamond bit run dry while drilling.
2) Don't use so much coolant that it runs clear. That is, while drilling, you should see good color in the used coolant.

Contrary to popular belief, it is possible to use TO MUCH coolant as well as TO LITTLE.
In fact it is the abrasive action between the cuttings, coolant and the diamond bit that keeps the bit sharp and drilling fast.

Straight Shank and Morse Taper adaptors are designed to adapt a water swivel or "Millennium" diamond bits to a wide verity of hand drills and drill presses.

Note: It is recommended that you select the largest shank or taper diameter that will fit your drill, for maximum strength.
