Suggestions for using a "TileBit-Jr"

Drilling with the "TileBit-Jr" is simple, fast and straightforward. Use these instructions for trouble free drilling.
  1. When starting a hole with the "TileBit-Jr" use the Tape-on drill guide (TJGUIDE) or make your own guide out of a small board or piece of plastic with a notch cut in one end.
  2. With a pencil or suitable marker layout the holes.
  3. Hold or tape the guide to the tile surface with the notch centered on the hole to be drilled.
  4. Place the bit in the notch as you start to drill. (This will help prevent the bit from "skating" across the tile surface.)
  5. Use a low RPM to start the hole.
  6. For a water source, use a small bottle, spray bottle or a sponge. Pour, spray or drip water on the contact between the "TileBit-Jr." and the tile as you drill. NOTE: A "TileBit-Jr." requires only a small amount of water to keep it cool and to flush the cutting away, but it should not be allowed to drill dry.
  7. Use a drill with a rotational speed from 1100 to 2700 RPM.
  8. Make sure the plastic plug in back end of bit is in tight. This will help prevent water from getting into your drill chuck.
  9. After you have completed drilling a hole, the small core or "tile plug" that you just drilled should be removed from the "TileBit-Jr.". Remove the rubber plug from the end of the bit and with a wire push the core out of the bit.

Note: When you are done using the "TileBit" it is helpful to spray with a small amount of penetrating oil such as WD-40 this helps prevent rust
