Suggestions for using a "TileBit-Jr"
Drilling with the "TileBit-Jr"
is simple, fast and straightforward. Use these instructions for trouble free
drilling.
- When starting a hole with the "TileBit-Jr" use the
Tape-on drill guide (TJGUIDE) or make your own guide out of a small board or
piece of plastic with a notch cut in one end.
- With a pencil or suitable marker layout the
holes.
- Hold or tape the guide to the tile surface with the
notch centered on the hole to be drilled.
- Place the bit in the notch as you start to drill.
(This will help prevent the bit from "skating" across the tile surface.)
- Use a low RPM to start the hole.
- For a water source, use a small bottle, spray bottle
or a sponge. Pour, spray or drip water on the contact between the "TileBit-Jr."
and the tile as you drill. NOTE: A "TileBit-Jr." requires only a small amount
of water to keep it cool and to flush the cutting away, but it should not be
allowed to drill dry.
- Use a drill with a rotational speed from 1100 to 2700
RPM.
- Make sure the plastic plug in back end of bit is in
tight. This will help prevent water from getting into your drill chuck.
- After you have completed drilling a hole, the small
core or "tile plug" that you just drilled should be removed from the
"TileBit-Jr.". Remove the rubber plug from the end of the bit and with a wire
push the core out of the bit.
Note: When you are done using the "TileBit" it is
helpful to spray with a small amount of penetrating oil such as WD-40 this
helps prevent rust |
